We have summarized a few points on how to choose good quality LED fixtures:

• Ask for the LED Driver brand.

The LED driver determines over 95% of the LED lights ‘problems. LED drivers power the light and make sure the light is working continuously and properly. LED lights with bad LED drivers may not work at the beginning or last a very short period (such as three or four months) of time. LED lights with good drivers can last 5 years or even longer under normal working conditions.

While for some LED fixtures, the drivers are mostly unbranded (some manufactures make drivers in house or outsource unbranded drivers), for LED fixtures like LED Parking lot light(LED Area light, LED shoebox), high bay lights, Wall pack lights, Flood lights, etc. many manufacturers will choose to use branded drivers as the replacement cost for those products is high and branded drivers will give peace of mind to buyers. It doesn’t mean unbranded drivers are bad, we have seen many light fixture models (with unbranded drivers) that sell millions of units per year and defective rate is really low (less than 0.2%), just that with unbranded drivers, you’ll have to go with reliable vendors to make sure the quality. There are many good LED driver brands as of today, including but not limited to Meanwell, Sosen, Inventronics, BQ(Becky), Lifud, etc.  While every LED driver models have certain defective rates or sometimes even bad batches, LED driver brands like mentioned above have relatively lower defective rates and reduced bad batches than average unbranded drivers. • Check the certificate of the LED light

A good LED light fixture usually has a safety certificate and lumen efficiency certificate. Common safety certificate organizations include UL, ETL etc. Lumen efficiency certificate organizations include DLC, Energy star, etc.

By complying with safety standards and lumen efficiency, the LED light fixtures have higher chances to have good quality.

• Check the package box quality

With years of experience, we find that LED lights with strong, solid package boxes also have a slightly higher chance of being good quality.

A strong package usually means the manufacturer has tried to protect its product in case they are damaged from shipping and handling, especially for the products like LED mirror light, LED flat panel lights that are easily damaged during shipping. Strong package boxes are more expensive than bad packaging boxes obviously, so the manufacturers using strong packaging can imply that they are responsible companies, in some ways, and therefore, their quality has good chances of being good.

• Choose good vendors

A good LED light vendor has a big chance of selling good LED fixtures and helping you to get the best options available for you.

Good LED light vendors are knowledgeable, experienced and helpful and will try to keep all good quality LED fixtures at competitive prices. Try to look for reliable, reputable vendors that not only have bulk inventory in stock, but also with more than at least 6 years of experience.
